WEST PALM BEACH, FL (March. 18, 2022) – Greg Norman Golf Course Design (GNGCD) and Aurora Anguilla Resort & Golf Club today announced the remastering of the Aurora International Golf Club (formerly CuisinArt Golf Club) and the addition of a nine-hole Signature Short Course. Ideally positioned on the stunning Caribbean Island of Anguilla, with breathtaking views of Rendezvous Bay, Aurora International is a GNGCD original design and Anguilla’s only golf course set to debut on April 1, 2022. Originally opened in 2006, the complete tee-to-green redesign has been carried out with the purpose of repositioning and updating the character of this true jewel of Caribbean golf.
The renovation will significantly enhance the character of the golf course and restore the site to its original luster and design intention. The restoration is being overseen personally by Greg Norman and his longtime senior designer Jason McCoy. “It is an honor and a privilege to return to Anguilla to modernize and restore one of our most iconic projects in the Caribbean,” said Greg Norman “Our primary objective is that the course continues to be recognized among the best golf courses in the Islands for years to come. Aurora International Golf Club has the optimal characteristics for a championship golf course and following the renovation, will be able to host world-class tournaments. We look forward to unveiling the course to members and guests around the world in 2022.”
The new course reflects strategic design changes that promise to enhance both its playability and sustainability. Aurora International saw extensive updates including tee-to-green re-grassing, utilizing Latitude Bermuda for fairways, approaches, and tee surfaces and surrounds. Greens have been re-surfaced with Tif-Eagle Bermuda. The remastering also includes a complete reconstruction of the green complexes and tees, a total renovation of the irrigation system, as well as several architectural updates.
Golfers will enjoy an additional forward tee location, new strategic bunker locations throughout the course, and the removal of overgrown exotics to open view corridors. “We are thrilled with what Greg Norman Golf Course Design has created,” said Simon A. Fricker, Managing Director for Aurora Anguilla Resort & Golf Club. “We look forward to welcoming our guests to enjoy this exciting new chapter for the course as we set out to deliver one of the leading experiences in the world.”
Following the debut of the Championship Course, a new GNGCD nine-holes Signature Short Course, will be introduced in Summer 2022 as the perfect amenity for golfers and families, those who are new to the sport and travelers seeking to sneak in a quick round. Honoring the Aurora International style, the first hole opens with panoramic views of the Caribbean Sea and the course unfolds with a rich variety of shot angles, distances, and carefully integrated design elements to make it playable and fun for novice golfers. Minimal water features and double greens provide excitement, and even a short drivable par 4 has been conceived to complete a great golf experience.
The Golf Club is home to best-in-class amenities, including spacious practice facilities, fully outfitted locker rooms for men and women, spaces for recovery therapies, a full-service restaurant serving breakfast, lunch, dinner and more. A perfect place to stop in between rounds, the Golf Club is the ideal destination to unwind and refuel or to simply revel in leisure. With intentions to perfect the entire golf experience, the newly redesigned clubhouse sits atop the highest point of the property offering breathtaking views and resulting in one of the finest golf courses in
the world.
Aurora International Golf Club also offers a coveted membership program.
The Club has two membership platforms: international members classified for those individuals or families who have physical presence on island for 30 days or less in a calendar year, and full members who are individuals or families who have a physical presence on island for 31 or more days in a calendar year. Both categories provide golf course usage, guest privileges, unlimited use of practice facilities, complimentary lockers, member only golf events and tournaments, and more.
