If you are in Tuscany this month then why not enjoy an elegant evening of opera and wine. An enchanting event set within the private estate of Monterosola winery overlooking the ancient hills of Volterra, Tuscany.
Marking the height of the summer season, where the vines are growing tall and strong, Monterosola is hosting its first ever operatic event on the 30thJuly 2022. Directed by world renowned Australian director John Wregg this al-fresco opera will take place throughout the terraces and cloistered courtyards that surround the cantina’s stone tower.
At the heart of Monterosola’s philosophy for wine-making is a strong desire to honour both the history and cultural heritage of this unique part of Tuscany. By bringing together unique experiences that celebrate wine, music, art, nature and cuisine, these joyful events truly captivate the senses. This summer’s opera Bastiano e Bastiana is a chamber opera by W.A.Mozart and is a cautionary tale of rustic romance. Hosted in the atmospheric setting of Monterosola Winery, the opera will be presented by Opere da Camera and Orchestra Sinfonica Florentia under the musical direction of Valentino Alfredo Zangara.
This chamber piece was first commissioned in 1768 by Dr. Anton Mesmer and performed in his garden in Vienna. Mozart was only 11 years old, but his musical style was already evident. He adapted the libretto from two French plays all by himself.
This charming summer event brings together the very best organic wines with a light-hearted operatic event in the very heart of rural Tuscany. Book now as spaces are limited…
