Show Low, Ariz. – (June) – Desert Troon Companies, a Scottsdale-based real estate development and investment firm is pleased to announce, Christian Castrodad has been hired as the head golf professional at its Torreon Golf Club in Show Low. Castrodad brings more than 13 years professional experience to the position, and recently moved to Show Low from Crestview, Florida to join the team.
“Christian brings a wealth of professional experience to Torreon,” says General Manager Caleb Blass, “But, he also brings a life-long love of the game of golf. It is a passion shared by our members and employees here at Torreon and we are excited to have Christian join our family to share his expertise at our award-winning course nestled amidst the largest stand of ponderosa pines in the nation.”
Castrodad comes to Torreon after most recently serving as the General Manager and Director of Golf at The Golf Club at Bluewater Bay in Crestview, Florida. He is also no stranger to Arizona, having previously served as Head Golf Professional at Antelope Hills Golf Courses in Prescott, Arizona.
“Arizona truly is a golfer’s paradise,” says Castrodad. “Every corner of the state offers players unparalleled views and challenges, but the Torreon Golf Club is beyond comparison offering world-class golf that feels a world away, surrounded by the serenity of the breathtaking White Mountains.”
Castrodad joins Torreon just in time for prime season when the mild temperatures and cool air of the White Mountains offer an escape from the heat of summer.
As a certified PGA Coach, certified Callaway Golf Fitter, and experienced teaching professional Castrodad can’t wait to share his knowledge and passion with club members.
Castrodad shares these three tips with Torreon golfers:
- Having a pre-shot routine will make you a lot more comfortable on the golf course.
- Work on your short game and set goals for yourself when trying to lower your score.
- Practice better speed control on the greens if you want to eliminate the dreaded 3 putt.
His favorite hole at Torreon is number eighteen on the Tower Golf Course. “Even though the golf hole only plays 377 yards, you must make either a risk reward drive down the left side of a split fairway, or play it safe down the right side leaving yourself a long second shot which demands a well placed second shot to a guarded green,” Castrodad said.
Castrodad loves teaching golf to people of all ages.
“I enjoy watching my students go from the driving range to the course,” he said. “It’s great to hear feedback from someone after a lesson and watch people learn a new skill and get better.”
Originally from the Bronx, New York, Christian fell in love with the game of golf while playing for his high school golf team at St. Raymond High School for Boys. Years down the road, Christian would ignite that passion for golf again while attending college at Johnson and Wales University in Miami. He later transferred to The Professional Golfer’s Career College Golf Management program where he graduated in 2010. Following school, he worked in many different positions within the golf industry to ensure a broad understanding of the golf business. Castrodad enjoys outdoor activities with his wife Brandy and dog Mango and can’t wait to explore Torreon and the surrounding area.
