With nearly two decades of expertise in the luxury hospitality industry, Shapazian steps into his role at Keswick Hall with a vision to further refine the guest experience, as well as elevate the distinguished legacy at the award-winning resort and golf destination just outside Charlottesville.
Shapazian will lead all operations at Keswick Hall, overseeing the resort’s amenities including the celebrated Pete Dye-designed Full Cry golf course, 14,000 square-foot resort spa, Marigold by Jean-Georges Vongerichten, and Keswick’s private club. He will also play a key role in introducing new initiatives to elevate the guest experience further, ensuring Keswick Hall remains a premier destination for discerning travelers.
Shapazian has built an exceptional leadership career at some of the world’s most prestigious properties. Most recently, he served as resort manager at the Ocean House in Watch Hill, Rhode Island, where he expertly directed operations across multiple luxury venues including the Ocean & Harvest Spa, extensive residence and cottage program, private club, and more. Under his leadership, the resort not only surpassed key performance metrics but also reinforced its standing as a premier destination, consistently delivering outstanding guest satisfaction.
Before his role at Ocean House, Shapazian held key positions within the Four Seasons portfolio including at the Four Seasons Hotel in Las Vegas and the Four Seasons Hotel in Vail, Colorado. Shapazian studied at Johnson & Wales University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Hotel Management.
“We are thrilled to welcome Louis Shapazian as the new general manager of Keswick Hall,” says Molly Hardie, owner of Keswick Hall alongside her husband Robert. “Louis has extensive experience in luxury hospitality, coupled with proven leadership at some of the world’s most esteemed properties, which makes him the ideal choice to guide Keswick Hall into its next chapter. We are confident that under Louis’ leadership, Keswick Hall will continue to set the standard for luxury in Virginia and beyond.”
With the opening of its Full Cry golf course in 2014, Keswick Hall immediately became one of the coveted golf destinations in both Virginia and the United States. Featuring the best of Pete Dye’s incredible genius, the rolling topography of central Virginia and the breathtaking backdrop of the Blue Ridge Mountains on the horizon proved ideal for his creation. Full Cry has received numerous accolades including current rankings of No. 3 in Golfweek for “Best You Can Play in Virginia” and No. 53 in Golfweek for “Top 200 Resort Courses in the U.S.” Keswick Hall has also been honored with the prestigious Golf Digest Editors’ Choice Award for “Best Golf Resorts in the Americas” for seven consecutive years.
“Keswick Hall represents the pinnacle of Southern elegance, seamlessly blending historic charm with contemporary luxury. I am deeply honored to join this remarkable team,” says Shapazian. “Together, we will strive to enhance every facet of the guest journey, from our exceptional culinary offerings at Marigold by Jean-Georges, serene indulgence in our world-class spa, and an extraordinary golf experience few destinations can match.”
Under the direction of the Hardies, Keswick Hall recently completed a stunning resort transformation. Highlights include an increase in the number of guest rooms from 48 to 80, inspiring food and beverage offerings under the direction of acclaimed chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten, and the new Keswick Hall Spa, which features a selection of luxurious, holistic spa experiences thoughtfully curated to support mental, physical and emotional well-being.
The property’s new tennis facility offers access to seven tennis courts including two all-weather European red ClayTech courts — a hybrid surface combining a durable hardcourt with the unique beauty and playability of clay courts — and two dedicated pickleball courts. Meanwhile, the resort’s fitness center showcases state-of-the-art Technogym equipment, Peloton bikes, and free weights, as well as a personal training room and offers more than 90 monthly classes for guests. Ideal for relaxing and rejuvenating, the heated, adults-only Horizon Pool is open year-round and features an expansive infinity edge with sweeping views of the surrounding area and a dramatic cascading waterfall.
