As a treasured Midwest treasure and National Historic Landmark, Mackinac Island has activities sure to delight every type of traveler. This year, Mackinac Island will have Fourth of July festivities for the whole family, including:
- W.T. Rabe Stone Skipping Competition: This cherished event starts at 9:00 a.m. on July 4th and has room for everyone. While professional stone skippers will compete for the coveted trophy, children of all ages and amateurs are welcome to participate in additional divisions.
- A Star Spangled Fourth of July: Experience the nostalgic ambiance of an 1880s Independence Day at the historic Fort Mackinac. The day-long event begins at 1:30 p.m. on July 4, and includes a 38-gun salute honoring the states of the period, along with activities such as sack racing, vintage baseball, and more.
- Dazzling Fireworks Display: Two sparkling fireworks displays will go off at dusk, around 10:00 p.m. for an unforgettable celebration in front of Marquette Park and Mackinac Island School that will light up the night sky.
