(Peninsula Papagayo, Costa Rica, March 11, 2024) – Andaz Costa Rica Resort at Peninsula Papagayo has unveiled two new beachside offerings: Casa de Playa, a reimagined and elevated beach club and Meso restaurant. Located on the pristine waters of Culebra Bay, accessed by a 10-minute complimentary boat ride, Casa de Playa and Meso deliver relaxation, entertainment and inviting dining on the expansive sands of Playa Nacascolo. Meso showcases an innovative “Meso-terranean” menu, Mediterranean cuisine blended with Mesoamerican influence. Together, these beachside venues capture the resort’s signature blend of luxury lifestyle and Costa Rica’s iconic ‘pura vida’ mantra.
“We are thrilled to welcome resort guests and Peninsula Papagayo residents to Casa de Playa and Meso, where they can enjoy sophisticated dining and a distinctive beach club experience,” said Patrick Schori, General Manager of Andaz Costa Rica Resort at Peninsula Papagayo. “This highly anticipated amenity will further elevate the guest experience and complement the diverse dining and activity options available to our guests.”
Casa de Playa: A Costa Rican Beachfront Oasis
Located on Nacascolo Beach, one of the largest and most beautiful beaches on the calm waters of Culebra Bay, Casa de Playa, a multi-million-dollar investment, opens as a sophisticated yet lively retreat. Upon entering Casa de Playa by boat, guests are immediately immersed in a Costa Rican oasis with a natural canopy of trees and an adjacent mangrove preserve. Along with the beautiful natural bay waters, guests can cool off in the 25-meter pool or relax in one of the plush loungers or cabanas, all serviced by Casa de Playa staff. Here, guests can sip on Spritzes and Sangria while noshing on delicious beach eats such as gazpacho and boquerones.
Ideal for swimming, water sports and snorkeling, Nacascolo Beach is beloved by returning resort guests and Peninsula Papagayo homeowners alike. Regular live DJs will set the vibe with a sophisticated blend of contemporary electronic, jazz lounge, and R&B music.
Meso: A Mesoamerican and Mediterranean Culinary Adventure
Meso is a new culinary destination introducing “Mesoterranean” cuisine. Led by Executive Sous Chef Bruno Alves, who also oversees the resort’s marquee restaurant Ostra, Meso offers flavors of classic Mediterranean food come alive with dishes like surf and turf paella, Sicilian crudo, and homemade pasta with sun-dried tomato sauce. The dinner experience offers “feasts” that follow Mediterranean traditions of food shared among family and friends. Refreshing tropical renditions of classic Mediterranean cocktails are served from the bar, inspired by the blue and gray hues for which Greece is known.
Designed by Cola Blanca interior design and taking inspiration from the jungle and natural surroundings, the natural surfaces and earthy tones ensure a laid-back atmosphere throughout the space; guests will enjoy an al fresco atmosphere with sand-to-sky open-air windows, taking full advantage of pool and beach views. Meso can accommodate up to 90 diners and is available to resort guests and residents of Peninsula Papagayo.
Daytime transportation is available from the resort lobby for the shuttle to the Nature Center for a quick peek at The Explorers Research Center, followed by a swift golf cart ride through a protected mangrove preserve filled with wildlife and the neighborhood monkeys or via a scenic 10-minute boat transfer from the resort’s beach below the main pool. Boat service is daytime only from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., subject to weather conditions. Evening service after 5 p.m. is available from the resort lobby via shuttle.
