A festive stay at ADLER Spa Resort SICILIA is ideal if you’re looking to escape the hustle and bustle of the holiday season. Tucked away near a sleepy seaside village on Sicily’s quieter southwest coast, you can discover the joys of authentic Italy.
At this time of year, temperatures are around 11℃ to 16℃, with the occasional rain shower, which gives you the perfect excuse to cosy up and unwind fully within this exclusive spa resort.
Should you wish to explore this unspoiled region a little, there are plenty of Sicilian Christmas traditions to discover, with villages and towns holding many artisan markets filled with handcrafted items, perfect for gifts. Of course, festive markets always have an enticing variety of food stalls offering you a true taste of Sicily.
The festive season begins on the 8th December in Sicily, with the feast day of the Immaculate Conception when towns come alive with colourful decorations, Christmas lights, and nativity scenes. In the village of Villaggio Mosè, you’ll find Santa Claus’s house, complete with elves, reindeer, and his workshop! You may also stumble across the traditional Sicilian celebration of Novena di Natale, where children sing carols, read scripture, and light candles.
On Christmas Eve most towns congregate together in their main square to burn a huge bonfire (Lo Zucco) where you can join the locals on an atmospheric street procession. From 28-30 December you could head to Montaperto to witness the historic Presep Viventi, a living nativity scene.
If you simply want to relax in Sicilian style, then ADLER Spa Resort SICILIA has its very own Christmas celebrations taking place throughout the festive season.
Relax in a Junior Suite or Family Suite on a half-board basis and enjoy a gourmet breakfast buffet and elegant à la carte dinner included within the price of your stay.
The resort’s restaurant is famous for its 0km menus where you’ll be spoilt for choice with seasonal festive fayre with a focus on freshly caught fish and homegrown vegetables. More traditional Christmas offerings are also on the menu such a pasta ‘ncasciata, a rich, baked pasta dish featuring meat ragu, aubergine, ham, and mortadella sausage, or falsomagro, a Sicilian stuffed meat roll.
Sicily is famous for its sweet treats and at ADLER Spa Resort SICILIA you can savour delicious homemade desserts and pastries, including cannoli, nucatoli (spiced and iced almond biscuits), mostaccioli (honey and orange peel biscuits), nougat, cassata siciliana (a traditional ricotta, candied fruit, and marzipan cake), and buccellato (a ringed pastry cake stuffed with figs and nuts).
Younger guests will also receive a gift from Santa Claus and the AKI Kids Club will be entertaining its guests with Christmas crafts, nature trails, and festive fun and games.
There are plenty of added extras to unwrap at ADLER Spa Resort SICILIA too, including a complimentary daily programme of sports activities, food tastings and guided tours, as well as yoga and fitness classes.
You also have full access to the decadent wellness waterworld which features heated indoor and outdoor saline swimming pools, a 25-metre swimming pool, a heated panoramic thalasso pool, a Finnish sauna, a bio sauna, and a steam bath.
ADLER Spa Resort SICILIA is offering a very special Christmas gift just for you. (Guests staying four nights will each receive a €50 spa voucher.)
Want to extend your Christmas? You can in Sicily, as the season goes on until 6 January for the night of Epiphany. Instead of Santa though, children are greeted by Befana, a friendly witch who rides a broomstick and gives gifts to children, unless they’re naughty!
If you’re tempted by a Mediterranean Christmas this year, ADLER Spa Resort SICILIA invites you and your loved ones to create magical memories by the sea.
