Set within the heart of rural Tuscany lies Villa Saletta, one of the region’s most historic country estates. Comprising of rolling hills, wooded valleys, and acres of vineyards and olive groves, Villa Saletta originally dates from 980AD when it was noted for its winemaking activities.
An impressive property steeped in history and local culture, throughout the centuries, Villa Saletta was a thriving agricultural enterprise featuring a medieval borgo (village), ancient church, farmhouses, cottages and numerous agricultural buildings all set within acres of fertile farmland, olive groves and vineyards. In more recent times, following the Second World War, much of the estate was abandoned and subsequently fell into disrepair. However, encouragingly, Villa Saletta once again entered a new period of renaissance when a programme of sympathetic restoration began twenty years ago.
Since that time, the estate has, once again, become a prestigious Tuscan property, with the current owners the Hands family sensitively bringing the vines, land, and the buildings joyously back to life. Today, at the core of the estate is a boutique winery producing award-winning red, rosé and sparkling wines. Alongside the impressive winemaking activities, Villa Saletta offers luxury hospitality set within a collection of impeccably restored historic villas, each featuring its own secluded gardens, private pools and beautifully designed interiors and landscapes.
Villa Saletta’s architecturally inspired villas are impressive rural retreats, perfect for indulging in an authentic taste of seasonal Tuscan living. With serene backdrops of olive trees, vineyards, forests and meadows, Villa Saletta offers the essence of Tuscan hospitality, private properties that bring together friends and family for a taste of La Dolce Vita. Guests at Villa Saletta’s country estate can enjoy a truly Tuscan lifestyle where the seasons lead the day-to-day activities and experiences. With the estate’s very own award-winning winery located just minutes from the villas, guests can immerse themselves in the world of wine, enjoying behind the scenes tours, private wine tastings and access to some of the cantina’s most prestigious vintages. At Villa Saletta, experiences celebrate authentic Tuscan traditions, from truffle hunting to pasta-making, olive picking to sunset picnics, days and nights are filled with the simple joys of life in Tuscany.
